In 2001, the Council of Medical Associations of Catalonia (Consell de Col·legis de Metges de Catalunya) created the Fundació Galatea as a result of the Program for Assistance to Ill Physicians (Programa d’Atenció al Metge Malalt, or PAIMM). It was created to protect the health and well-being of all health professionals (physicians, nurses, veterinarians, pharmacists, psychologists, dentists, social workers) and, in doing so, to guarantee citizens received quality healthcare.
Fundació Galatea works to protect and promote the health of these professionals with studies on the health of the groups it cares for, as well as a broad and varied assortment of practical, easily accessed educational opportunities (workshops, courses, talks and conferences, etc.). These opportunities provide professionals with keys to caring for their own health.
